They say love knows no bounds, and Meredith and Evan’s marriage is proof of that. Ironically, when they first met at NC State, she was the one who showed interest, and he seemed aloof to the perfect match. Since they were both premeds, they bumped into each other quite a bit. Soon enough, he realized he’d found his dream girl and forever best friend.
Then, COVID arrived, just in time for their scheduled June 2020 wedding. Like all of us last year, the realization that our lives would be flipped upside down hit hard. But love does prevail, and they rescheduled an outdoor wedding at Raffaldini Winery in Ronda, NC.
After waiting a few months, what’s twelve more? They made it through that pandemic year readier than ever to tie the knot. Until their wedding day arrived. The wedding party was ready to go. The venue and set up looked amazing. The weather was perfect. Meredith just needed to get her hair done and slip into her bridal gown.
And then the power went off!
She still needed her hair and makeup done, and they had no power, much less AC—in June!!
Dad to the Rescue
Thankfully, Meredith’s dad drove to the wedding in his RV (best to be overprepared, right?) In this case, he was perfectly prepared to save his daughter’s wedding day. She finished getting ready in the RV with the help of the generator.
Meredith and Evan planned an outdoor ceremony in front of the Blue Ridge Mountains, so the lack of power didn’t hold them back! It was as gorgeous and as wonderful as they had hoped. Their phenomenal team of wedding professionals made sure everything was flawless despite the outage.
The newlyweds did get a bit nervous as it got closer to reception time. If nothing else, they could use a couple of generators to power the reception (which was less than ideal). However, as fate would have it, the lights brilliantly turned back on just five minutes before the reception started.

No matter how it went down, Evan and Meredith were calm and collected through it all. They just wanted to tie the knot and celebrate their marriage with loved ones. Their personality and deep love for each other shined through the power outage. Evan has a proclivity for frolicking in fields (which elicited some adorable and good-natured eye rolls from Meredith). You’d never know the challenges they’ve overcome together by the way they embrace life, love each other, and venture on. Their wedding day was absolutely breathtaking, and the challenges just made their wedding day even more special.
Cheers to the newlyweds!
