Congratulations on your engagement! Before the wedding planning gets into full swing, take a moment to catch your breath and take it all in. This is such as sweet yet fleeting time in your life, and I don’t want you to let this milestone moment pass you by. Celebrate your engagement and capture some of your first professional photos together with a romantic engagement session. All you need to do is book your session with an engagement photographer, select your photo location, and start documenting the first chapters of your story together. When selecting an engagement photo location, I recommend choosing a place that:

  • makes you feel comfortable & relaxed
  • reflects your personality
  • has great lighting and ambiance for photos
  • allows you to have fun together!!

As an experienced NC engagement photographer serving Charlotte, Asheville, and the surrounding areas, I’d love to help you select the perfect engagement photo location for you.

Here are a few ideas to get you going.

Top Charlotte Engagement Photo Location Recommendations from an NC Engagement Photographer

1. Historic Location

Charlotte and the surrounding areas are filled with historic locations and local charm that we can use in your engagement photos. Historic locations like museums, homes, and estates infuse extra character into your photos, and they’re perfect for couples who like a vintage, romantic look.

Check out USA Today’s 10 Best Historic Sites in Charlotte (although some may have photo restrictions), or get in touch with me for more historic locations.

2. Downtown Scene & Urban Backdrop

On the other hand, you could create a more modern, sophisticated look in your engagement photos by using the urban downtown scene as your backdrop. Some photogenic places in Downton Charlotte include: the Levine Museum of the New South, Discovery Place, NASCAR Hall of Fame, modern architecture, murals, and more.

3. Scenic Backdrop

You don’t necessarily have to head to the mountains or Blue Ridge Parkway if that’s too much of a hike. The Liberty Walk around Downtown Charlotte offers many beautiful backdrops as well as areas on the Catawba River and Lake Norman. Get in touch with me for some of the best parks and natural backdrops around Charlotte if you prefer to stay close to the city for you session.

Or, we can take advantage of the colorful Appalachian Mountains. I have a handful of scenic outlooks that I highly recommend for view-loving couples that won’t require us to hike for miles. Asheville has gotten trendier over the last few years. But I know of some hidden gems that aren’t quite as crowded.

And while the historic Biltmore Estate can get busy during peak seasons, it’s still a gorgeous and expansive property with a variety of landscapes we can take advantage of. I can help you if we choose a less-crowded date and time.

4. Memorable Location

Let’s head to your favorite coffee shop, park, or café. We can take photos at the place where you first met, had your first date, or spent time together. Your photos will be even more meaningful if the location itself already holds fond memories.

5. Home Sweet Home

If home is where the heart is, let’s go there! A lifestyle in-home engagement session may help you relax and draw out your most authentic smiles. Home sessions are great if you want something a little more intimate. Steal a kiss in the kitchen, dance down the hall, and cozy up by the fire for some beautiful photos you’ll cherish forever. I love doing these in your first apartment or home together! And your furry four-legged friends can join in on the action too.
